POSTPONED: Poetry to Open the Eyes

July 4 @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Professors Michael Malay and Kate Rigby will be exploring poems that encouraged us to listen, slow down, be open to surprise, concentrate, and see things more clearly/seeingly.

The workshop will discuss poems by John Clare, Les Murray, Mary Oliver, Thomas Transtromer and Robert Gray.

In the face of the Covid-19 lockdown, Michael and Kate have provided some recommended reading to keep your minds limber until we are able to reschedule the School of Activism.
“I can wholeheartedly recommend the ‘practices’ developed by Emergence Magazine, especially the following activities relating to birds, trees and navigating.” Michael Malay

Trees https://emergencemagazine.org/story/practice-befriending-tree/
Navigating: https://emergencemagazine.org/story/practice-navigating/

Suggested donation £4 but no-one will be turned away through lack of funds.

The School of Activism 2.0 is a 2 week programme of workshops, talks and activities brought to you by Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft over the Easter holidays. The workshops are intended to be empowering experiences equipping people with the tools to challenge the status quo, contest power structures and ultimately to change the world.

We learn by doing.
We make our own future.
