SUMMARY:Mae Tao Clinic & Myanmar Earthquake Aid Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nCOME LEARN about the patients and healthcare workers at Mae Tao Clinic\, a lifeline for Karen and Burmese communities along the Thai-Myanmar border.\nAll funds raised by this event will go towards the clinic and aid the many people affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar\, providing food\, sanitation\, shelter and medical treatment. Burmese food and products will also be on sale to support both causes. \nThe Mae Tao Clinic\, located on the Thai-Burma border\, provides essential healthcare to over 100\,000 displaced and vulnerable people each year. From life-saving emergency care to safe childbirth and treatment for chronic illness\, the clinic has stood as a lifeline for Karen and Burmese communities with nowhere else to turn. Your support at this event and beyond can help support the clinic’s ongoing mission to provide critical healthcare to those in need. \nThis photography exhibition\, hosted by Zin Htut\, a Burmese Bristol medical student who worked at the clinic in Autumn 2024\, showcases stories of humanity and resilience. Delicious homemade Burmese food and authentic Burmese products will be on sale to further support both causes\, with 50% of money raised from food sales going to the clinic and 50% going to Myanmar Earthquake Relief. There will also be a raffle with exciting prizes. \nEntry tickets are a minimum of £5 per person. However\, please consider donating more and giving generously where you can to help us raise as much money as we can. \nThank you for your generosity and we look forward to meeting you at the event. \nMore information about the clinic can be found at www.maetaoclinic.org. If you would like to make additional donations or you cannot attend the event but would still like to donate to the clinic\, please visit our JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/page/mae-tao-photo \nEntry requirements: no age restrictions

SUMMARY:An Evening in Solidarity: Palestinian Relief
DESCRIPTION:TicketsHosted in partnership with Bristol Palestine Museum and Bristol Solidarity Cafe\, this fundraiser directly supports Ibrahim\, his family\, and their vital relief efforts through Al Nasser Charitable Society. Join us on February 8th as art\, music\, and community come together in aid of Palestinian families displaced by the ongoing crisis in Gaza. \nAbout the Cause \nAl Nasser Charitable (النَّاصر- ‘The Helper’) was founded in 2021 by our friend Ibrahim Raida during the Israeli attacks on Gaza\, with the aim of delivering urgent aid to those affected. This fundraiser directly supports Ibrahim\, his displaced family\, and their vital work through the charity. \nIbrahim and his family were displaced from Gaza City to Rafah\, along with over a million others. As Executive Director of Al Nasser Charitable\, Ibrahim leads efforts to provide essential support\, including food parcels\, health kits\, drinking water\, tent camps\, and hot meals for displaced communities. All proceeds will help those who have had their homes detroyed\, providing them with essential support as they continue to live in tents while working to rebuild their lives. \nWhat to Expect: \nArt & Exhibitions\nGuests are invited to immerse themselves in the local art and exhibitions provided by South West England’s most promising young artists. Silent bidding will run throughout the evening and an open auction for art pieces will be carried out at 9:00pm – the highest of which will be donated directly to Ibrahim and his family. \nPoetry\nRiveting poetry set to bring chills and set heart ablaze is to be expected from this event. With Sonder Spoken Word on board to asssist in curation and ensure the most poignant individuals are represented here\, there’s no doubt the passions will be ignited through this rhythmic contribution. \nLive Entertainment\nWe’re very lucky and honoured to have some of the best in Bristol up and coming talent join us in provining a cascade of soothing melodies to soothe the evening and ease our transitions between the showcases which this evening will be graced with. From indie-folk artists to spoken word performances\, the soundtrack of the evening promises to be one which will soothe the soul. \nFood by Bristol Solidarity Cafe. \nLet’s come together to make a direct contribution as we recognise the power of art\, culture\, and collective action.

SUMMARY:POSTPONED: The Invisible Worker Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of music and good vibes and help us raise money for Issue 3 of The Invisible Worker\, a zine project that looks at the interface between work and technology in contemporary capitalism. All proceeds from the night will go directly to paying gig workers and artists to contribute to issue 3\, on algorithmic management. \nWhen you work for a company like Deliveroo\, Stuart\, Bolt\, Uber\, Ola\, Upwork\, you will never come across a human manager. It’s not that they are absent\, understaffed\, or lazy\, they simply don’t exist. Within these platforms direct management has been outsourced to computational algorithms. Logistics\, organization as well discipline and punishment is now managed by the app\, the only colleague with which the worker will ever interact. \nFor Issue 3 of The Invisible Worker we will look at what it’s like to work under what is commonly known as algorithmic management. We want to explore what’s good about it\, what’s bad about it and what implications it holds beyond the platform economy. \nLive music from:\nDaytripper\nLorcan\nMinor Conflicts\nNatalie Whiteland\nOrbury Common \nTickets £7 on the door.
