SUMMARY:Blue Metaphor Presents: Stories Beyond the Veil
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nBlue Metaphor presents “Stories beyond the Veil”\, the third of a series of themed events bringing all art forms together\, with filmmaking at the centre.\nLed by Bristol -based producer and director Sheherazade Bodin and owner of Blue Metaphor Ltd\, an independent production company aiming to help filmmakers\, writers and any creative voices develop their projects portraying social and/or cultural matters.\n\nThis event is open to all creatives\, those with passion projects looking for production support and any art lovers! \nScreenings and Q&A \n“Echoes”\, a short drama portraying grief and loss\, written and directed by Fiona Kruschnik and produced by Normal Girl Production. \n“Today would’ve been Lily’s Birthday and her best friend Flo\, her older brother Ben\, and her partner Pete meet up to celebrate at her favourite café. This is the first time they have seen each other\, since Lily’s death months ago. Trying to overcome the distance and awkwardness between them\, Flo\, Pete\, and Ben become painfully aware that the only reason they ever had anything to do with each other was Lily.” \nQ&A with Fiona Kruschnik (writer/director)\, Jasmin Batler (producer)\, Casey Raos (director of photography) and Hannah (actress) \n“Ghost Story“\, a drama/horror short written and directed by Daniel Granville \n“Following the sudden death of their long-term and much-too-depended-upon counsellor\, a couple in their 50s take a chaotic stab at rebalancing their relationship\, while grappling with their own mortality” \nQ&A with Daniel Granville (writer/director)\, Joseph Akelakun (producer/actor) and Luke Frsh (director of photography) \n“Bone Marrow Soup“\, an experimental film about an autobiographical journey through years worth of brutality and beauty by Lara Angelina \n“An exploration into the mind in recovery; mourning past versions of yourself and the painful process of shedding old skin behind in order to adorn a new one” \nFollowed by the reading of a note left by the filmmaker \n“Love + Death“\, an experimental film by A1 Vanguard \n“The story talks about love but with a close affinity with Death causing the character to receive love for what it is and yet he is willing to surrender all for it” \nQ&A with A1 Vanguard (Director\, Producer\, Actor and Poet) \nPerformances \nCerulean : “[no] good grief” // Participatory performance \n[no] good grief is Cerulean’s (not so) final Hurrah. It is a celebration\, it is a party\, it is a Funeral. \nAn experiment for mourning in community\, it is a plea to remind the audience that they need not grieve alone. Not all deaths are equal and not everyone gets the after-death process that they want or deserve. This show intends to explore the audience as a necessary participant in the very sad (we are all very sad to hear about the) passing of Cerulean and to test the limits of silence at a wake. \nExploring themes of morality\, Queerness and care from the perspective of a Trans\, working class performer who is certain they will die (if not now then) soon. This is a show for audiences who may one day die…. oh\, wait\, that’s everyone. \nNetworking \nFor filmmakers\, creatives and everyone in between\, we are offering an hour of networking\, a valuable opportunity to deepdive into other projects around the city\, whilst enjoying our art exhibition. \nExhibition \n“Abjection” by artist Lansdall \n“Abjection draws me towards the place where meaning collapses” – Julia Kristeva \nDeath lies on the threshold between two states of being. A fleeting moment of oblivion at the advent of change. In the physical sense\, it is annihilation. Spiritually however\, it is the step towards rebirth and personal growth. This juxtaposition between death and life creates a paradox within us\, where for many in the western world\, the fear of death subtly overlaps with the fear of change. But to truly develop\, that fear must be accepted. This is what we explore in this exhibition; the complex\, intertwining relationships between themes of death\, loss\, rebirth\, and self-fulfilment. \nFood & Drink \nThis event is non-alcoholic. Hot drinks and soft drinks will be available\, along with snacks\, pastries and more. Free popcorn for everyone! \nDoors open at 6pm until 10.30pm \n\nEarlybird tickets £8 / Regular tickets £10 / Late tickets £12

Acting as a celebration of culture and expressive art\, the People’s Art Fair is open to artists\, makers\, photographers\, painters\, sculptors and creatives of all shapes and flavours. We know art isn’t just paintings hanging on walls\, so the People’s Art Fair often includes an art fair\, live music jam sessions\, poetry open mic\, and all sorts of creative workshops and activities. \n\nPeople's Art Fair: Spring // Friday 31 March - Sunday 9 April 2023\nThe People's Art Fair (PAF) is a ten day long cultural festival providing a platform for visual artists\, poets\, musicians and workshop leaders to show off their talents. PAF is kept free for artists to take part in\, and all ticketed events apply the principle 'no one turned away through lack of funds'.  PAF is a natural extension of our work to break down barriers and increase inclusion and voice\, and is a direct challenge to the exclusionary idea that 'real art’ is exclusive and only created by\, and relevant to a small cultured\, wealthy elite. PAF promotes creative cultural practice as an essential tool for people to challenge or highlight social injustice and to galvanise change.\n\nThroughout the fair we collaborate with local social-minded creatives to offer workshops; a poetry open mic; and a music jam session\, inviting everyone to share and celebrate their talents during the fair. The net result is a visually diverse and culturally rich event featuring hundreds of artworks from over 70 artists; and the emergence of a confident\, mutually supportive creative community that is joyful to be part of.\n\n Browse the People's Art Fair: Spring Exhibition online\n \nPeople’s Art Fair: Opening NightJoin us for the opening night of the People's Art Fair - be among the first to see all the amazing artwork on offer\, access your inner artist with some fun & easy creative activities\, and have a drink while you browse\, schmooze & enjoy live music from Brainbeau. SUMMARY:Visualising the City
DESCRIPTION:Throughout July\, we walked the streets of Bristol together\, guiding young people as they created images of how they view the city. Capturing the urban landscape\, the group then worked together to create a mural through stencil graffiti art and mixed media. \nJoin us as we unveil this collective piece of artwork created by the group of young people on our Visualising the City course\, run in collaboration with Creative Youth Network\, written and delivered by PRSC. Engaging 16-25 year olds who are not in education\, employment or training\, our courses provide opportunities for young people to grow in confidence and develop transferable skills\, while expressing themselves creatively. \nCome see Bristol through young eyes\, gaining a new perspective of the city we love.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening People's Art Fair: Activism
DESCRIPTION:Opening night: Thursday 7 April\, 6-9pm\nExhibition open daily: 12-6pm\, Fri 8 – Sun 17 April\nFREE ENTRY \nCome and celebrate the opening of the Activism themed People’s Art Fair (PAF)\, the arty part of the School of Activism 3.0\, founded on the principle that together we are greater than the sum of our parts. \nEnjoy the musical offerings of the multi-talented duo Brainbeau; take in a sneak preview of this diverse exhibition\, created from the collected talents of over 20 local independent artists; have a drink from our locally sourced bar while pondering the question “can art change the world?”. \nThe Brick Project crew will be back for their final Domino Project session this evening. Since the first People’s Art Fair in 2020 these open domino painting sessions have produced a collection of nearly 1000 individually painted dominoes from hundreds of PAF visitors & artists. This mighty collection will be finally arranged into a single collaborative artwork during the opening\, and the result will remain on show at the art fair. After the show\, this piece will find a new home\, publically displayed on one of the PRSC HQ’s beautifully colourful walls. This event is your last chance to be a part of this brilliant project\, it’s not too late! \nAbout the Art Fair: The People’s Art Fair is an open group exhibition curated by the PRSC. SUMMARY:I\, Feminine
DESCRIPTION:I\, Feminine is an exhibition and project which seeks to show the complexities of the word feminine\, and its role within identity politics. A paper dress features in the experimental moving image and photography pieces showing that those who have been denied femininity have ‘Papier-mâchéd’ their own feminine identity. I\, Feminine does not just ask questions about how we reclaim femininity but how we can reinvent the feminine\, so that it is free from patriarchal\, heteronormative\, and capitalist thought.
