SUMMARY:FOCUS CONGO
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\n\nPresented by BadApple\, Friends of Congo\, School of Activism & SOLiD\nAfter the powerful success of our first event\, Focus on Congo returns for Round 2\, this time at the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft. \nOn this night\, we gather once again in solidarity with the Congolese people\, raising funds for Focus Congo\, an organisation working directly with families impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo. \nThis fundraiser will bring together activists\, artists\, speakers\, and the Bristol community for an evening of food\, culture\, and action. \nWHAT TO EXPECT \nTalks & Panel Discussions:\nFeaturing Bad Apple\, shedding light on corporate exploitation and the urgent need to boycott Apple for its role in Congo’s cobalt crisis. Friends of Congo and the School of Activism will also lead conversations\, alongside speakers from Congo including author Lildonia Lawrence\, sharing insights from her book Back Yourself: A Self-Care Guide to Healing from Racial Trauma. \nPoetry & Performance:\nWith powerful contributions from Poet Lawrence Hoo and local performers using art to amplify truth. \nCultural Food & Merchandise:\nEnjoy freshly made African cuisine\, and explore new fundraiser merchandise — including badges\, posters\, and stickers\, with all proceeds going to Focus Congo. \nCommunity Energy:\nExpect a night of solidarity\, reflection\, and cultural celebration\, designed not only to raise funds but to deepen awareness of Congo’s struggles and resilience. \nWhy it matters:\nCongo is at the heart of the global tech economy\, providing the majority of the world’s cobalt — a key mineral in phones\, laptops\, and electric cars. Behind these devices lies a story of exploitation\, child labour\, displacement\, and political violence. Yet the people of Congo continue to resist\, organise\, and survive. \nBy coming together\, we show that Bristol is not silent. We stand in solidarity\, we educate ourselves and each other\, and we raise real funds that will have a direct impact on Congolese families through Focus Congo. \nThe struggle in Congo is global\, and so is our solidarity. Join us for a night of community\, creativity\, and commitment. \nGoFundMe link: https://gofund.me/d5d030840 \nEntry requirements: no age restrictions

SUMMARY:School of Activism x The Avon River Bride: Is the river safe to swim in?
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nIn partnership with PRSC’s School of Activism\, Meg will share campaign updates on UK water pollution\, perform new poetry and some from her 2025 collection ‘My Avon’ and ultimately attempt to answer the question – is the river safe to swim in?\nIn partnership with the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft’s School of Activism\, Meg will share campain updates on UK water pollution\, perform new poetry and some from her 2025 collection ‘My Avon’ and ultimately attempt to answer the question – is the river safe to swim in? \nAfter her wedding to the river Avon in Bristol in June 2023\, Meg has now been on four pilgrmages up and down her beloved’s banks\, from source to mouth. She has toured with the documentary film Rave on for the Avon (Guardian\, 4 stars) throughout the UK and won a scholarship to the Earth Law Centre where she learnt about the Rights for Nature movement – the fastest growing legal movement in the world. \nShe is gathering information from lawers\, politicians\, scientists and academics as she travels and channels them into her writing and other artistic endevours such as Avona – Bristol’s giant river-spirit puppet. \nShe swims in the Avon regularly and is aware of the risks\, she wants others to be aware too\, and to understand the power of the autonomy in their decision making. \n\nEnabling Active Citizenship since 2019\nCurated and hosted by PRSC\, School of Activism events are designed to be empowering experiences equipping people with the tools to challenge the status quo\, contest power structures and ultimately to change the world.\nWe learn by doing.\nWe make our own future.

SUMMARY:An Evening in Solidarity: Palestinian Relief
DESCRIPTION:TicketsHosted in partnership with Bristol Palestine Museum and Bristol Solidarity Cafe\, this fundraiser directly supports Ibrahim\, his family\, and their vital relief efforts through Al Nasser Charitable Society. Join us on February 8th as art\, music\, and community come together in aid of Palestinian families displaced by the ongoing crisis in Gaza. \nAbout the Cause \nAl Nasser Charitable (النَّاصر- ‘The Helper’) was founded in 2021 by our friend Ibrahim Raida during the Israeli attacks on Gaza\, with the aim of delivering urgent aid to those affected. This fundraiser directly supports Ibrahim\, his displaced family\, and their vital work through the charity. \nIbrahim and his family were displaced from Gaza City to Rafah\, along with over a million others. As Executive Director of Al Nasser Charitable\, Ibrahim leads efforts to provide essential support\, including food parcels\, health kits\, drinking water\, tent camps\, and hot meals for displaced communities. All proceeds will help those who have had their homes detroyed\, providing them with essential support as they continue to live in tents while working to rebuild their lives. \nWhat to Expect: \nArt & Exhibitions\nGuests are invited to immerse themselves in the local art and exhibitions provided by South West England’s most promising young artists. Silent bidding will run throughout the evening and an open auction for art pieces will be carried out at 9:00pm – the highest of which will be donated directly to Ibrahim and his family. \nPoetry\nRiveting poetry set to bring chills and set heart ablaze is to be expected from this event. With Sonder Spoken Word on board to asssist in curation and ensure the most poignant individuals are represented here\, there’s no doubt the passions will be ignited through this rhythmic contribution. \nLive Entertainment\nWe’re very lucky and honoured to have some of the best in Bristol up and coming talent join us in provining a cascade of soothing melodies to soothe the evening and ease our transitions between the showcases which this evening will be graced with. From indie-folk artists to spoken word performances\, the soundtrack of the evening promises to be one which will soothe the soul. \nFood by Bristol Solidarity Cafe. \nLet’s come together to make a direct contribution as we recognise the power of art\, culture\, and collective action.

SUMMARY:UpFront Survivors Pop-Up Cultural Space
DESCRIPTION:Free Creative Workshop & Events Programme For Adult Survivors Of Child Sexual Abuse\, Friends and Allies\nUpFront Survivors is a pioneering\, three-year programme of creative changemaking\, designed and led by survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA) and allies in partnership with frontline services. \nAn estimated 11 million adults – or one in six people – have experienced child sexual abuse (CSA) in the UK. CSA survivors lack representation on national and local platforms\, as experiences of CSA continue to be hidden and taboo. Survivors live with ongoing silencing and censorship\, and many are not able to safely self-identify or speak out about their experiences. Most have never met another survivor\, so do not feel part of a community. Survivors of CSA do not have existing role models or cultural infrastructure\, and our voices are omitted from diversity and inclusion discourses. \nUsing arts-based activities\, the aim of UpFront Survivors is to work against stigma\, silencing and censorship towards social justice\, access and inclusion for the CSA survivor community. \nWe are celebrating the launch of this ground-breaking project with one of the first ever pop-up cultural spaces for the CSA survivor community\, friends and allies\, featuring a free programme of daily creative workshops and cultural events. \nUnless otherwise stated\, all workshops and events take place at PRSC. \nAll our spaces are relaxed environments\, meaning you can move around the space as you need to during events and performances\, and leave (and come back) at any time. \nAll events are free to attend but pre-booking is required for workshops due to limited capacity.
