From the 24th to the 26th May, Siena Barnes’ first solo show takes place at the PRSC gallery in Bristol. Siena will be using the opportunity to display a selection of her trademark large format punk rock folk art Indian Ink panels. Siena is self-taught and the works selected for the show draw on the artist’s fascinations, horror, porn and headlines, all viewed through the meme-fogged lens of the contemporary popular culture. Exhibition Opening Night This exhibition aims to use art as a way to represent how Bristol’s changing landscape highlights the deepening housing crisis. More than 11,000 people are on the waiting list for a council house in Bristol alone. This figure is made even more shocking by the fact that over 1,000 homes lie empty. Average house prices approach £300,000 and average rents exceed £1,000 a month. This is a devastatingly harsh reality for around 120 people, who sleep rough…
