DESCRIPTION:‘They think I am the most beautiful thing in the world. And I don’t mind being a thing. I don’t want their respect. I want only their animal desire.’ \nFREAK explores female sexuality\, self-image and sexual exploitation\, in a comedic\, relatable and sometimes shocking manner. It follows the sex lives of two women at very different stages of their lives\, and looks at how societal ideals affect them emotionally and influence their decisions. Leah has just come out of puberty and is apprehensive about this whole new world of sex and sexiness\, and how to remain popular. Conversely we have Georgie\, thirty\, who has just come out of a long-term relationship and spontaneously decided to become a stripper. The audience are guaranteed to laugh\, cry and most of all feel nostalgic for experiences we have all shared whilst growing up. \nBullet Theatre is a new Bristol-based company founded by three women. Connecting media headlines to diary scribbles\, our work aims to boldly and unashamedly explore the experience of being female.
