SUMMARY:Smashing the genocide-industrial complex
DESCRIPTION:TicketsTU Anon sessions are short and simple workshops for campaigning or organising in your workplace\, with plenty of time to chat and ask questions. \nTickets are pay-what-you-can with a suggested minimum donation of £3.00 in order to help cover venue costs. There are some limited free tickets as well for people who will struggle to contribute this. \nWhat can we learn about effective direct action from the courageous efforts of Palestine Action?\nThe UK has been no stranger to outlandish displays of direct action in recent years. From the development of the Extinction Rebellion approach of extended periods of ‘mass’ action with lofty demands\, anti-politics and ‘autonomous groups’ leading to the evolution of Just Stop Oil and Youth Demand. Among these Palestine Action appears to stand out in their ability to claim material wins for their cause. \nTheir activity has successfully shut down the production of weapons destined for use by Israel\, in factories across the country for days\, weeks and even permanently. They’ve cost Elbit systems millions in lost contracts by making companies feel the cost of doing business in Palestinian blood. Despite arrests\, sentences and persistent abuse of counter terror powers by the UK state\, they continue the fight against genocide in ways few others are. \nJoin Bristol Transformed with our guest host Narzanin Massoumi in conversation with Luxx\, a leading Palestine Actionist\, British-Syrian\, and poet. We’ll be exploring the group’s strategy and tactics\, their efficacy as well as the response from the State\, to discover what we might learn about direct action that doesn’t rely on mass engagement\, whether it should be encouraged and how it fits into a broader movement. \n————————\nBristol Transformed is a grassroots\, volunteer-run\, socialist education group. SUMMARY:Kaleidoscope Fusion Dance
DESCRIPTION:WE WANT ALL OF YOU.\nWe throw dance parties where all bodies are invited. You already know how to dance\, we’re just here to give you permission to embrace all of the ways your body wants to move.\nCome alone\, come with friends\, dip in a toe or plunge in the deep end. However you want to party\, we’re here for it. \nSo that everyone feels safe to unleash their full selves on the dancefloor our only rule is to be excellent to one another (aka the “don’t be an asshole” policy). What does that mean? We expect you to be great at respecting other peoples’ boundaries and bodies\, to pay attention\, and to use your words if you’re unsure. Trust us\, asking is way less awkward than getting it wrong. \nLOCAL TEACHERS AND DJS \nWe’ll kick off the evening with an intro to social dancing for anyone who’d like some tips on dancing with a partner\, before local DJ’s get us moving with tracks ranging from slow and squishy to high-energy bangers. \nNo partner or experience necessary\, just bring yourself and shoes you can move in. \nLINE-UP \n7.30pm doors\n7.45pm all-levels workshop\n8.45pm our DJ’s bring the party \nACCESS \nThe venue is all on one level from pavement to dancefloor. There is a single-user\, unadapted bathroom on the same level. \nIf you want to attend the class and might need some modifications\, DM or email email hidden; JavaScript is required so we can make sure our teaching meets your needs. \nBROKE? \nIf you can’t afford a ticket and want to come dancing\, email email hidden; JavaScript is required and we’ll try to help. \nWHAT THE F IS FUSION? \nFusion is partner dancing\, without the baggage. We’re not here to stick to a rigid set of steps\, but to actually dance with another person to good music on a night out. Fusion is all about improvisation\, connecting with your partner and seeing what happens. We don’t care if you’ve never danced before\, as long as you’re having a good time. \nFusion gets it’s name from fusing different styles of dance – maybe you’ve danced blues\, tango\, lindy\, west coast swing or hip hop or maybe you just like to get on the dance floor and shake it\, you have something to bring! \nFor us\, fusion is more than a dance\, it’s also a way of living the future we want to build. That means it is queer\, it is feminist\, and we don’t want anyone left behind. \nEntry requirements: no age restrictions

SUMMARY:The Improv Spotlight
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nA night showcasing the very best of local talent in the Bristol improv community.\nJoin us for a night of spontaneous laughter at The Improv Spotlight. Immerse yourself in the world of unscripted comedy as two talented groups from our vibrant community take centre stage. These groups will weave unique stories\, characters\, and humour on the spot for your entertainment. The Spotlight highlights the spontaneous comedy of improvised theatre and proudly showcases the diverse skills of local troupes and artists within our community. \nDoors at 7pm. Show starts at 7.30pm. \nThis month under the Spotlight… \n*Pressure Cooker*\nThe improvised restaurant show (From the cast of The Bish Bosh Bash and the creators of Tales of Adventure). \nStep into our restaurant\, where the experience is different every single night! Our performers take ingredients from the audience’s suggestions to create recipes for wacky\, funny\, and silly stories. \nYou’ll see how the front-of-house\, back-of-house\, and customers deal with wildly unpredictable situations and character tales\, serving up all-you-can-eat laughs. \nAs our Head Chef always says… “If you can’t handle the heat\, you won’t make an omelette”. \n*The Improvised Adventures of Star Captain*\nCome aboard and join the Star Captain! Watch the adventures in space as Star Captain fearlessly faces new planets\, strange aliens and black holes. Their faithful Number Two isn’t far behind\, nervously joining as they tame wild alien creatures and broker peace between the giant cyborgs and mantis-people (or whatever we come up with on the night). \nThe Grumpkins (Emma T and Pete) are proud to present this fast paced comedic improvised Sci-fi Adventure. From a single suggestion\, the Star Captain and their put-upon assistant Number Two will weave a brand new heroic space adventure before your very eyes. \nTo infinity and beyond! (is that copyrighted?) \nEntry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s must be accompanied). \n\nPeople's Art Fair: Friday 22 November - Sunday 1 December 2024\nThe People's Art Fair encompasses a group exhibition\, performances\, creative workshops & activities\, and a makers market! SUMMARY:Blue Metaphor presents "Stories Beneath the Skin"
DESCRIPTION:Blue Metaphor Ltd presents “Stories beneath the skin”\, the first of a series of themed events bringing all art forms together\, with filmmaking at the center. Led by Bristol -based producer and director Sheherazade Bodin and owner of Blue Metaphor Ltd\, the production company aims to help filmmakers\, writers and any creative voices develop their projects portraying social and/or cultural matters. This event is open to all creatives and those with passion projects looking for production support. In particular\, those with noisy or misunderstood voices\, looking to share their stories for greater impact! \nSTORIES BENEATH THE SKIN\n//SCREENING\\ trigger warning\n“Ephemeral”\, a fourteen minutes arthouse film written and directed by Sheherazade Bodin\, produced by Blue Metaphor Ltd\, followed by a Q&A with the team behind it.\n“Ephemeral” portrays body dysmorphia and binge-eating. The beauty of the film resides in its cinematography\, but also in its costumes\, makeup and choreographies. \n//PERFORMANCES\\\nşêr-vîn (sher-vin) // Riptides and shore lines\, a poetry and sound performance\nAn intimate journeying into the sea within\, the ripples between\, and the turbulent powers that rise\, through poetry and sound.\nShervin finds expression through writing\, sound\, the visual arts and movement. She blends these platforms into her work as a psychologist\, and explores the body and psyche’s inherent and intuitive calls to healing.\nSachin Babbar and Maria Martinez\, a live ink painting and dancing performance\nThe artists will improvise a dance based on the internal struggles and distortion of body image and dissolution of one’s own form through connection.\nAs Maria continues to act out the struggles\, Sachin will paint the internal conflict in real-time using ink and paper. \n//NETWORKING\\\nFor filmmakers and artists\, we are offering an hour of networking\, a valuable opportunity to deepdive into other projects around the city\, whilst enjoying our photography exhibition. \n//EXHIBITION\\\nGabriele Žukauskaitė is an accomplished analogue photographer who joined the cast and crew of “Ephemeral” as both a producer and behind-the-scenes photographer. Throughout the filming process\, she skillfully documented the journey\, capturing on film the beautiful and intimate moments that unfolded beyond the movie camera’s frame. Her unique perspective offers a glimpse into the heart of the creative process. A selection of Gabrielė’s evocative work will be exhibited during the event\, providing attendees with the exclusive opportunity to purchase these one-of-a-kind pieces and take home a tangible piece of cinematic history. \n//FOOD AND DRINKS\\\nThis event is non-alcoholic. Hot drinks and soft drinks will be available\, along with snacks\, pastries and more. \nEarlybird tickets : £7\nRegular tickets : £9\nLate tickets : £10

SUMMARY:Kaleidoscope Fusion Dance
DESCRIPTION:Tickets\nWE WANT ALL OF YOU \nWe throw dance parties where all bodies are invited. You already know how to dance\, we’re just here to give you permission to embrace all of the ways your body wants to move. \nCome alone\, come with friends\, dip in a toe or plunge in the deep end. \nLOCAL TEACHERS AND DJS\nWe’ll kick off the evening with an intro to social dancing for anyone who’d like some tips on dancing with a partner\, before local DJ’s get us moving with tracks ranging from slow and squishy to high-energy bangers. \nNo partner or experience necessary\, just bring yourself and shoes you can move in. \nLINE-UP\n7.30pm all-levels workshop\n8.30pm our DJ’s bring the party \nACCESS\nThe venue is all on one level from pavement to dancefloor. There is a single-user\, unadapted bathroom on the same level. \nIf you want to attend the class and might need some modifications\, DM or email email hidden; JavaScript is required so we can make sure our teaching meets your needs. \nBROKE?\nIf you can’t afford a ticket and want to come dancing\, email email hidden; JavaScript is required and we’ll try to help. \nWHAT THE F IS FUSION?\nFusion is partner dancing\, without the baggage.
