An event every day that begins at 7:30pm, repeating until March 16, 2018
‘They think I am the most beautiful thing in the world. And I don’t mind being a thing. I don’t want their respect. I want only their animal desire.’
FREAK explores female sexuality, self-image and sexual exploitation, in a comedic, relatable and sometimes shocking manner. It follows the sex lives of two women at very different stages of their lives, and looks at how societal ideals affect them emotionally and influence their decisions. Leah has just come out of puberty and is apprehensive about this whole new world of sex and sexiness, and how to remain popular. Conversely we have Georgie, thirty, who has just come out of a long-term relationship and spontaneously decided to become a stripper. The audience are guaranteed to laugh, cry and most of all feel nostalgic for experiences we have all shared whilst growing up.
Bullet Theatre is a new Bristol-based company founded by three women. Connecting media headlines to diary scribbles, our work aims to boldly and unashamedly explore the experience of being female. Ooh…now that’s a turn on!
Having made its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 to raring reviews (‘vivid, funny and sad’- The Guardian) we are adapting our own interpretation of Anna Jordan’s punchy and provocative play to bring to Bristol, interweaving Jordan’s poetic writing with innovative physical theatre.
Event dates: Friday 15/03/2018 and Saturday 16/03/2018
