Radical Labour Councils: Past, Present and Future

Labour Councils have a long and complex history of protest and radical politics, when faced with staunch opposition from central government. From the Poplar rates rebellion, nuclear free zones, to the creation of Black History Month, we can look to radical councils of the past and present for inspiration for how future councils can behave in opposition when dealing with drastic funding cuts. With councillor selection for the 2020 local elections coming up, it's important to have Labour councillors willing to implement radical policies to alleviate the local impacts of a Tory government.
