Street Art Workshop: Stokes Croft Calling
Sun 27 October, 2024 @ 11:00 - 18:00
Free entryBe part of the ever-changing visual landscape of The Croft, and claim your own corner in the legacy of local street art. Kingpins of the local community PRSC will use their extensive knowledge, and centrality to the art of the area, to run a street-art workshop where you can contribute to a brand-new work of art on their outside mural wall. Either watch others creating, or have a go yourself.
The mural workshop will invite you to engage with the history and look of Stokes Croft through a bank of stencils, created over more than a decade in various projects in and around the Croft. Choose which stencil to apply to an abstracted streetscape and make your mark as the piece takes shape. As the streetscape develops, for those taking part later in the day, the choices will change from ‘how do we contribute to the collaborative landscape?’ to ‘how do we add colour and imagery to the landscape?’.
You’ll be invited to reflect on the choices that graffiti and street-artists have to make every time they work their craft: What’s on the wall already? Can it be incorporated or do I need to start afresh? How do I add and layer meaning?
Bookings necessary to take part. Anyone is welcome to watch the work as it grows over the course of the day!
All PPE and materials will be provided.
This is a family friendly activity and children are welcome. Participating children must be accompanied by a participating adult who will be responsible for their child at all times. Please book a ticket for each person in attendance – this includes children and babies in pushchairs.
In the event of bad weather, the activity will be adjusted so that it can take place indoors. This may incur a change to the creative content of the work, but the activity will go ahead whatever the weather.
This event is wheelchair accessible. Other workshop participants will be standing unless otherwise arranged. We aim to ensure that this event is accessible to all, but in order to do this we ask individuals to please contact us in advance to discuss specific access needs, so we can work with you to try and meet these (email hidden; JavaScript is required).
Entry requirements: no age restrictions
