The Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft (PRSC) and Journey to Justice Bristol (JToJ) are participating in a project to visualise Bristol’s history of activism and struggles for social justice.
As part of a variety of exciting and innovative activities for the JToJ event throughout October 2017, PRSC is working with JToJ to celebrate and honour key activists in Bristol that have contributed to and inspired the social movement but have not been recognised for their actions. To raise awareness about these people, we will feature their likeness and ideas on fine bone china mugs.
We are inviting artists to express their interest in designing artwork depicting an activist from our shortlist which will be selected by JToJ in the coming week. This is an exciting chance of having your artwork featured on fine bone china mugs as part of the JToJ activist series.

The selection will be carried out by the project curators, Laura Bottin and Micha Libert, a member of the Stokes Croft China team, and a member of the PRSC team, who will allocate twelve artists for the listed activists. Selected artists will receive £100 for their final artwork.
Outline of schedule:
Deadline expression of interest: 23 June 2017
Notifying for shortlisting: 28th June 2017
Deadline final design: 24 July 2017
Potentially the artwork will also be adapted for screen-prints and a mural in the city of Bristol, which will depend on crowdfunding.
