Trade Union Recognition & What It Means for You
Tue 4 February, 2025 @ 18:30 - 20:00
£3
TU Anon sessions are short and simple workshops about how to campaign and organise in your workplace. Whether you’ve never been a union member, or you’re an experienced organiser, you can learn something to help in your own workplace and share your tips with other attendees.

This month, we’re focusing on the relationship between trade union and employer:
– What does it mean to have an officially recognised union?
– How do you & your coworkers get there?
– What are the pitfalls of recognition that you need to avoid?
– How can you use official negotiations to bring in more members & build a stronger union?
The first half of the event will be a presentation and Q&A. For the second half we’ll form smaller groups, discuss each other’s workplaces, and help to solve whatever challenges you might be facing in your union organising.

Bristol Transformed is a grassroots, volunteer-run, socialist education group. Bringing together activists, trade unionists, and everyone who wants to learn, we’re creating the space to discuss the most important issues facing us, equipping us with the skills and knowledge to transform Bristol and the world.
We run an annual festival of politics, arts and culture in May, and weekly events throughout the rest of the year. See all our events here: https://hdfst.uk/bristol-transformed
Bristol Transformed is run by dozens of local people. Without new people coming in every year, we wouldn’t be able to maintain the same standard of political education events that you enjoy. If you’d be interested in joining us, sign up as a BT volunteer today and we’ll be in touch!
