LoveBristol would like to invite you to a CONSULTATION EVENT at which they are
gathering responses to their draft masterplan for the WESTMORELAND HOUSE and
Carriageworks site – an alternative scheme for regenerating this site, completely different from any other proposal by anyone so far.
It will take place on WEDNESDAY 17 FEBRUARY, in the basement lounge at
Kuvuka Cafe, Stokes Croft.
There will be a drop-in exhibition during the afternoon, from 1pm onwards, especially for those unable to make it to a presentation and workshop from 5.30pm- 7pm, when architects White Design will talk through the technical issues.
These are exciting proposals and the context is both challenging and full of opportunity. You’ll find plenty to think about.
This event is aimed primarily at interested groups and individuals active in the
neighbourhood. Wider consultation will take place at a later stage.
However, please do pass this invitation to anyone you think would benefit from engaging
with proposals for this site.
A rare shot of the rear of the Carriageworks, taken in March,2008. Like the Carriageworks on Jamaica Street, the building is shallow in depth. The building is Grade II* listed, and the roof leaks. As a matter of priority, temporary repairs or scaffolding should be put in place to prevent futher decay of this building, the Jewel of stokes Croft.
we missed it ! who are they ?? evangelical christians, I never trust these people !
Love Bristol are a faith-based organisation… The plans look pretty good. Westmoreland House preserved rather than demolished… am hoping to get plans to blog soon..
apologies for slur
glad to hear plans look good,
and would be delighted to see them
I sincerely wish that all faiths be welcomed
and allowed to participate without intrusion
No worries… It is easy to have an immediate reaction such as you did. I confess that I have had similar thoughts and have shred those thoughts with them…, but the more I get to know the Love Bristol Group, the more impressed I am… 🙂 And the scheme they have worked up is pretty good…
I also missed this- do you know where i might find any of the plans, im assuming they haven’t been formally submitted to the planning department as yet?!
thank you 🙂
Love Bristol have the plans. the Westmoreland House Public Inquiry takes place on Thursday. Assuming Comer homes do not succeed in forcing through their planning application, then the plans will be released. They were shown at Kuvuka on Stokes Croft this week. they may still be there. Otherwise, contact http://www.lovebristol.org
