Lower the Bar

Thursday 19 December, 2019 @ 19:00 - 21:00

3

Back by unpopular demand, Raise the Bar presents its awful Christmas event Lower the Bar. The worst hour of poetry you’ve ever heard, followed by the option to stay for drinks as we will be running a bar on the night too.

Carly Etherington, Saili Katebe, Sam Grudgings, Stephen Lightbown, Pascal Vine and Melanie Branton will each be delivering their very worst poem.

This year’s event will be headlined by Sir St.John Scarpia, official candidate and the people’s choice for the next Leader of the Conservative Party, for a spoken word performance followed by an audience Q&A.

Ahead of his performance in Bristol, Scarpia has said ‘I intend to show that if I can manipulate the shower of liberals and lefties that you get at these kind of events, I am worthy to lead this great party and nation through whatever chaos awaits you.’ His campaign slogan is: “I don’t care, so why should you!”

Expect uncomfortable hilarity, bizarre variety, crappy metaphor and terrible performance.

[NOTE: The bad poetry does not include any material that is seriously offensive and derogatory. It’s still a safe place to be! The venue is wheelchair accessible, but please note there is no accessible toilet.]

Doors open: 7pm || Show runs: 7:30 – 8:30pm (no interval).
Followed by drinks til closing.
£3 on the door (cash & card accepted).
