A collaboration between the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft’s ‘School of Activism’ and the PRALER Fund, marking the unveiling of a mural for Afrikan Liberation Day.
In the film, Jazz and decolonisation are entwined in this historical rollercoaster that rewrites the Cold War episode that led musicians Abbey Lincoln and Max Roach to crash the U.N security council in protest against the murder of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba. Crackling with energy and verve, this masterful film takes history and creates an audacious musical documentary.
This year marks the centenaries of both Patrice Lumumba and Malcolm X, and we want to commemorate their legacies by building solidarity with the decolonial struggles of today, such as the one currently taking place in the Sahel region in West Afrika. We will be raising contributions for the PRALER Fund (https://www.praler.net/praler-fund), a grassroots effort led by Global South Communities of Resistance that are restituting resources to strengthen struggles for national liberation.
