Stokes Croft China launched at the end of November. Using China Ware from the defunct factories of Staffordshire, and lithographic prints salvaged from Staffordshire’s largest independent decorating factory, local artists and members of the community came together to produce an aesthetic that is uniquely local. Thanks to brisk sales, great support from local people, the prospects for SCC to become a fully fledged local business have never looked rosier.  The idea is that any profits will go towards financing the growth of Stokes Croft as a cultural quarter. We are currently negotiating to take on local premises. Watch this space…

SCC is working currently using a Studio Decorator system, each piece of work carrying the backstamp of the artist. Current artists are, Sammy Hallett, Liz Krcma, SoHo, Peta Berry, Jen Howard-Coles and Chris Chalkley. Plans are afoot to expand production to include Limited Edition runs of the work of local graffiti artists.

The figurine (Above) by SoHo was stolen from the shop window during the week before Christmas. It is unique. It is a Spode figurine, decorated in SCC style. The lady carries a small PRSC flag in her hand. If you have seen it on somebody’s mantelpiece, please arrange its return… There is no question of police involvement.
