Advertising in our parks?

As if there weren’t enough billboard concerns now Bristol City Council have raised the possibility of billboards and signs in our parks and green spaces to make a bit of money to compensate for the cuts.
We agree with Bristol City Council when they say that parks and green spaces are good for our physical and emotional wellbeing. The council is under financial pressure to reduce what it spends on parks. One of the options it is considering is to sell advertising space in our green spaces.

There is a consultation we can use to let the council know what we think of the various possible options to save money on parks. Adblock Bristol are very concerned by the proposal to sell advertising space in our parks – advertising in parks could target children and would disrupt the emotional, psychological and health benefits of our green spaces.

Our responses to the consultation can stop this going ahead, it takes about 15 minutes to complete and can be found here:

You have until 29th January 2018 to respond. Proposal 2 concerns ‘introducing appropriate advertising in parks and green spaces’.

Love our parks? Have your say!

This survey is extensive and suggests many other things, such as increasing events in parks, removing play equipment when outdated and not replacing it, increasing parking space in parks and more.

Thoughts? Make your views heard in the current parks survey which runs to 29th Jan 2018.
