Run on similar principles to the People’s Art Fair, The Art Ting is a not for profit organisation, which aims to help and support local artists. It is free for all, artists and visitors, and always will be. Running for two days during PAF, The Art Ting are offering some amazing creative workshops for you, and a market full of local artists and makers. Maybe you will find the Christmas gift you are missing!

Saturday 2 December

// Workshop “Manga Character” with Piggyhammer

Learn how to create a manga character from scratch! This workshop is for beginners, no experience required. We will provide pencils and A4 plain paper, but it is up to you to bring sketchbooks and other pens if you fancy. Open to everyone, children welcome.

// Workshop “Ru Paul’s Flag Race” with Ciska

A colourful workshop all about celebrating who we are, collectively and individually. It celebrates diversity and inclusivity – with a splash of LGBTQ+ sass! It’s about body joy, affirmation, creativity, and expression. We will be making flags of all different sizes, shapes, and colours…with statements, prints, big words, and powerful messages to dazzle and delight. These flags will be made using paints, pens, fabrics, etc. And then, feel free to show around what you made! Run by Ciska, this workshop was created in collaboration with Rebel Girls Club, a Sisterhood Community that aims to inspire, and uplift people of all genders. Open to everyone, children welcome.

// Workshop “Paint the galaxy” with Iya Duende

Paint the Galaxies – techniques in watercolour: an introduction on rendering nebulas using watercolour gouache. All materials provided – individual palette and brushes, paint and watercolour paper. You will learn:
– How to choose your medium and colours
– Different techniques for using gouache to build different layers of intensity, colour and softness
– How to add details to render interstellar clouds and constellations
Open to everyone, children 8+ welcome.

// Workshop “Bauble Making” with Patrishas Art

Get in the festive spirit and paint your own unique personalised Christmas baubles, with acrylic or alcohol inks. Great for your own Christmas tree or a lovely seasonal gift! It takes around 25 min. Open to everyone, children 10+ welcome.

// Workshop “Jewellery Making” with Patrishas Art

Make your own mini galaxy. A beautiful design of alcohol inks encased in a metal and glass pendant. You can make your own custom design for yourself or someone special. In the process you will learn the basics of alcohol inks and some neat tricks of accessory and jewellery making. It takes around 30 min. Open to everyone, not suitable for children.

// Workshop “Sew your Tote bag” with Rizado Cielito

An introduction to using a sewing machine! You will leave with a tote bag you made! All materials are provided (white fabric). Participants are welcome to bring their own fabric. Beginners welcome. Open to everyone, children 12+ welcome.
